Brighan & Sam

Let me tell you about this amazing couple, Brighan and Sam and their beautiful wedding day. I was able to film their special day in Michigan with their family and friends surrounding them. The couple and wedding party treated me as if they had known me their entire life. The whole day was filled with joy and love, as they celebrated their marriage.

One of my dear friends recommended my videography business to her brother-in-law and his bride for their wedding. I was flattered to have been considered and especially excited when they decided to hire me. However, the only catch was driving over 500 miles to Saginaw, Michigan. Nervous for the trip, I began driving after my last final exam of the semester in college. Driving to Michigan by myself was both rewarding and challenging. I arrived the night before the wedding, eagerly awaiting the next day. That morning I met the bride and her bridesmaids at the salon. That is where I first met Brighan who embraced me with a hug right away. After filming the ladies, I arrived at the hotel to film Sam, the groom and his groomsmen. Again, I was greeted as if we were old family friends.

The ceremony was at a beautiful church in Brighan’s hometown, Saginaw. Her dress was one of a kind with her father’s blue shirt sewn into the bottom of her dress in the shape of a heart. Her bridesmaid’s dresses were a light pink with lace on the top. A favorite shot of mine was the groom and groomsmen playing cards right before the ceremony. After the ceremony I headed to the reception where I was in awe of the decorations, the chandeliers, and the amount of homemade cookies the groom’s father made. During the reception there was plenty of dancing, singing, and laughing.

Brighan and I have a similar connection that I could relate to. She and I have both lost a father. I too can understand the sadness of such a loss, especially when a special day like this happens. I went into this wedding video thinking of how I could honor her father in a way that would make him seem present, just how I would want my day to feature my father. Brigham, Sam, and their families honored her father in such a way that he was there not only in the photos on display but in spirit. The love emanating from this couple demonstrates how love helps you overcome any loss and does not ever disappear.

As always,
Hannah Marie Tree
